I'm emigrating to the USA (from the UK). What advice / warnings / tips can you give me to avoid me being scammed/tricked, which could happen if someone unscrupulos sees me coming.

Protect your financial privacy, just like you would in the U.K. Protect your passwords and account numbers, and your social security number when you receive one. Identity theft is the biggest problem over here in the US.
