    it all came about during the medieval times. a knight on horseback tends to keep left when an unknown knight, also on horseback, meets them along their way from the opposite direction so he can easily get hold of his sword just in case the stranger will be hostile. that's why some of the countries in the world (especially the old British colonies) use right-hand drive vehicles.
