I started a business when I was 20 (now 25) doing web development. Started from my apartment, couple years later I had an office with employees. I've since bought a house and work privately from home. There are a lot of downsides doing this as well. You lose track of time & social skills begin to lack. It's easy to put on weight, you're usually not mobile just sitting in your office. The perks, of course depending in your industry you can often have flexible hours, work in PJs, etc.

Home based businesses are great when you find the right one for you. I am a home based business owner but it took me a lot time and research to find what was right for me and I could do well in. There is a lot of junk and scams out there unfortunately so if this is something you are interested in just be careful and do your research. I am involved with a great business. Every home based business that I have tried all want your credit card no, even before you know the sales pitch . A good number is to sell information, thats been going around the internet since it was created, except with different book covers, same idea. Lots of promises. Some times you get a list like typing and etc..when you go there, you got to pay them a fee. So now I'm very skeptical about any home business. They keep wanting you to upgrade, which meens more money on and on and on. I'd like to see some Home based company prove me wrong. I wasted alot of good dollars on them. Beware on the free samples and free trials, just pay postage. Well, you need to give a credit card for the postage, and before you know it they are billing you for the monthly fee or product. Always check you credit card statements online, you can catch it quickly. They got your number, now they are in charge of your credit card. they say its in the private terms, should have read it. Paying your fee is how they actually make their money, so don't go there. If I can help one person from these scams, it makes my day. I could go on and on.. an on, been there done that.
