Would it be weird to compose a resume in Excel, as opposed to Word?

It's rather strange - really not using the software for the best intended use. Unless you were going for an Excel-based position, I would suggest you use Word. When interviewing, appearances get you in the door, including your resume. Don't throw up roadblocks by doing something that raises red flags. Good luck!
