Adrenaline is an adrenergic stimulant naturally occuring in the body. It increase cardiac irritability, rhythm and rate, among other things. It does not make people bleed to death. It's action in a patient who has suffered a cardiac arrest is supplemental in restarting the heart when used in conjunction with defibrillation

Adrenaline is a hormone, that like the other person said, causes increased heart rate among other things. An injection straight into the heart would definately help restart it, although I don't know how accurate Pulp Fiction's depiction of that is. http://rewards.1337shift.org

the heart is actually a fairly strong muscle, and thicker than you'd think. fortunately for us poking a hole in it with a needle isn't going to leave a hole significant enough in size to allow leakage.

Intracardiac injection is quite a desperate measure, in my region it is no longer used. If this procedure is necessary, the benefit will outweigh any resulting complications.
