If guys only liked one of the hair colours mentioned:
a) the others would all die out because men wouldn't want to re-produce with women of other hair colours
b) hair dye would only come in one colour.
A lot of it has to do with what colours look best on which women (the same goes for men actually, but we'll stick with women). Brunettes such as Catherine Zeta Jones and Salma Hayek are inarguably stunningly gorgeous and popular with the guys, but can you imagine that either would look as striking as a blonde?
Likewise imagine Nicole Kidman with black hair, or the late great Marilyn Monroe as a redhead.
All gorgeous women, all pin-ups, with all different hair colours, that suit them. Therefore I think you can conclude its the "whole package" of an attractive woman that guys find appealing, rather than whatever colour her hair happens to be.

Even though I'm married, I've seen women with all these hair colors that look great. I may prefer dark brunettes since I married one but hair color (as well as physical looks)does not make a real woman for me. It takes personality, brains, compassion and concern for others to add to their "total beauty".

Long term, it's what's inside. But when meeting someone for the first time, it's appearances that matter. I find myself drawn to blondes and reds more than brunettes because they are more "rare" in real life. Of course, with hair coloring, anyone can be anything, including Goth Blue or Purple, or Punk Pink, or freakin' Green.

I dont really know how to answer your question because there is no right or wrong. I can say I personally find more brunettes attractive but there are lots of blonds I also liked, then some girls with black(dark brunette) hair as well but my girlfriend lol has black hair.

Men are just happy if you have hair. Something to run their fingers through or to grab while they are having sex with you. My hair is naturally red but I have to keep coloring it to keep the grey toned down.
