I feel perhaps a credible yardstick from which to measure a singer's talent would be his/her ability to consistently produce albums where people actually enjoy listening to the entire album as opposed finding themselves being variably selective of just one or two songs on the album. Ya know? I suppose I could explain it better through example, back in Michael Jackson's hayday -- when 'Bad' or 'Thriller' was released, no doubt everyone loved the cover song but at the end of the day the collective sound emitting from the album as a whole came through and made them chart toppers & platinums. Just my opinion.
