  • Yes. Beer should be brewed under the most sanitary conditions you can possibly have.
  • Not while it is boiling. Sanitation becomes necessary when the beer is cooled. Boiling water kills bacteria and other little nasties. I would be extremely careful when it comes to bottling though. Leave a little bit extra at the bottom of the fermenter so you are sure that nobody is drinking metal flakes... they would taste awful... and oh yeh... they might hurt someone.
  • Make sure you strain it before you consume it. If it's just metal shards and everything was really clean it might be OK.
