    Itchy Feet
An itching foot foretold a long journey from which the person would derive pleasure (or walk on strange/foreign ground). If it was the right sole then the person was either going somewhere they would be welcomed ; or would undertake a task and be successful in it. The opposite was true for the left sole. Itching feet could also mean a sign of sorrow and some believed it was the forecast of new shoes. In the Middle Ages shoes needed to be broken in which might mean a sorry situation, also the idea of new shoe may related to a death in the family.

BTW there is no mention of where this superstition was common - China, India, Europe, Africa, who knows??

Personally, I think it means a journey ... to the drug store to get some foot powder, hehe.

Yes, it does. Especially at times when it would be impossible or inappropriate to scratch it.

This could either be a contact dermatitis from shoegear or socks or could be athlete's feet. I would first start with OTC Lamisil AT once a day for a week and if it does not improve, go see your nearest podiatrist.

Amazing to find so many of us with this strange, nagging sensation. I must admit it is one of the weirdest and most frustrating itches I have ever experienced. Thank goodness my boyfriend will do his best itching my foot for me ... somehow this brings much more relief compared to me attempting to dig and find "something" in there that must be causing me so much itch. I am thinking that this has got to be stress related and potentially related to the liver. It could also be lack of sexual intimacy. My thought is I try the vibrator relief method and nail two birds with one "bone". Just kidding of course.

I had this for nearly a year. The medical doctor had no clue. My chiropractor knew instantly what it was. From a reflexology stand point the spot that itches is related to the Transverse Colon and the cause is yeast. I immediately stopped all sugar and in 2 days it was all cleared up, never to show up again as long as I avoid the dreaded sugar.

i have had the same prob and nothing seemed to work until today, i had bought something for arthritic pain (sounds weird but i bought this item at safeway and tried a dab and it helped the pain) and from what i understand an itch is just a pain at a low degree, the item i bought is called dr. j. h. mclean's volcanic oil liniment (weird huh) but ingredients are camphor sassafrassy oil, chlorothmol, linseed (flaxseed) oil, petro and pine oil but the weirdest ingredient to my mind is turpentine oil (???) but this has been sold since the 1880s, found it in the ethnic food aisle at safeway but can probably find it on line and it only costs 3.95 (wow!), so if you up to trying anything, go to safeway or online.

I don't know what it is, but I know how I got rid of it. The itching was driving me nuts, deep inside my left foot. I put tea tree oil on a large bandage (about 2 X 4 inches, waterproof preferred because otherwise the oil oozes out onto the floor or your shoes when you walk) and applied it centered over the itchy area. A few minutes later the itching was gone. I did that every day for a couple of weeks. Sometimes I took the bandage off during the day and by night time the itching was back again. I put another bandage on and the itching stopped within minutes. I used this treatment for about 2 weeks and now I have no more itching even without the bandages. I read that the itching for many people is sporadic, so maybe I am just on a "no-itch" cycle, but during the itchy times the tea tree oil sure worked great for me. Tea tree oil (health food stores or online) has a distinctive smell, but that didn't matter to me, just getting rid of that itch was worth it. I had regular bandages with the little holes in them at first, so I stepped on a washcloth to get the excess oil out of the bandage pad before putting on shoes or slippers. Tea tree oil is a great fix for toenail fungus too. That is why I bought it in the first place. It might not work as well for everybody, but it is sure worth a try to get rid of that maddening itch that no amount of scratching can help.

    This works for me:
Use a large band-aid (the 2 X 4 inch ones) and put tea tree oil on the pad. Adhere it over the itchy spot. Step on a washcloth or something because the oil might come out through the little holes in the bandage, or use the waterproof kind I was up almost all night sometimes with the terrible itching inside the sole of my foot right under the toe part of my foot. Nothing helped. I tried the tea tree oil (health food stores or online) and the itching stopped within minutes. I re-applied the bandages every night before bed and left them on all the next day, and after about a 2 weeks of that the itching is gone. I read that for other people the itching comes and goes, so maybe I am in a "go" cycle, but all I know is that the first night I got out of bed and tried it, it worked right away and I slept through for the first time in weeks. Tea tree oil has a distinctive aroma and is, I think, an aquired taste, but it works for lots of things. I originally bought it to stop a toenail fungus, which it did very quickly also. Love those Aussies!!!

Who knows. Try this .. after a shower ... immediately put moisturizer on the bottom of your foot. Or, put it on before you go to bed and wear a sock all night. If that doesn't help after a couple of days .. you might need to see the doctor or put cortisone cream on it.

Here's one true answer to the problem. Bathing or showering in really hot water can be a cause. I have tested this out personally by using only tepid water or taking a bird bath. Foot/feet did not itch then. Have suggested this to two friends who have the same problem. They said they bathe in really hot water, laid off for a while and they too, found itching went away. I think there is a medical name for it called aquagenic pruritis.

You have too much Sugar intake in your body, so just stay away from Soda, Candy, and anything that contains lots of Sugar, cause it could turn into DIABETES, if your sugar levels are high, you could possibly LOSE your FOOT.

For itching that feels beneath the dermis, that drives you mad, you've got to try the only thing that cured me, after years of suffering. Xanthium Relieve Surface, by a company out of Oakland, called Health Concerns. Through my experience, I believe that the deep itching comes from healing of the nerves. I found that I usually experience this irrsatating sensation after a stressful incodent. Just like when a cut is healing, it itches, well, that's what i feel is happening here, just internally. I did not find this solution on my own, as we all know, the FDA haulted regulations on suppliments back in the early 90's, so the market is flooded with hype on all sorts of product, but my fortune of being associated with the lead singer of The Beach Boys, Mike Love, well, it saved me from this life disturbing problem. And FYI, I use to suffer from tenitis, ringing of the ears and Mike's specialists cured that, too. I have to apply the"once of prevention is worth a pound of cure" theory to maintain from having these symptoms return, but I cured. There are drops, froma company called Waiora, named NCD; Natural Celular Defense. These drops dropped my mercury levels dramatically and within a month, the ringing stopped. Every specialist within the Scripp's Hospital Chain simply wanted to medicate me....more metal containing pills. No thanks. I'm done being a sheep and trust me, a man like Mike is so well known, that he has the ability to seek the effective products. Both of these work amazingly!!! I hope this helps someone, as much as Mike helped me. Here's Mike with my baby girl!!!
    Sincerely,
