  • I guess some people like to live on the edge.
  • People can die from breathing the air or drinking the water. People can die in traffic accidents. People can die randomly from a blood clot or embolism. People could die in a random attack (terrorist or disgruntled ex-co-worker,or in cross-fire). Your point?
  • they want to escape and they arnt thinking
  • Because the chemical addiction in their brains overrides all reasonable judgement and they continue doing the drug until they can do it no more or kill them selves...luckily I reaced the I can't do it anymore state...some people are not that lucky...
  • I think alot of times.......they don't get high fast enough, forget how many or how much they've taken and the end result is overdose. WHY? Now that's something to find a cure for!
  • That is a rhetorical question which is not universally true. However, to answer it on the grounds of it's presuppositions, people have medical and mental deficiencies for which they attempt to compensate by self medication. Until the medical sciences adequately account for this and come up with the magic pill, you will see people continue to use illegal drugs. Some of those illegal drugs may themselves have a part of that (magic) which is missing from the current pharmacopoeia. The illegal status in US as well as UN doctrines prohibit even the study of such. Two in particular which fit this category are Cannabis and MDMA(Ecstasy). I will not attempt to explain all the benefits from Cannabis as they are (by now) proved and well known to everyone except the FDA, DEA and NIDA. MDMA has known therapeutic benefits for mitigation of anger and fear issues in clinical settings. I would not say that any medicine should be used without fair consideration as to it's efficacy and safety.
  • well you can also die from driving, flying on an airplane, falling off a roller coaster, and just generally walking outside, also if you stay in your house having a fire place poses the risk of a house fire that could kill you, also a cealing fan or light could fall off your cealing at any moment and crack your head open. now i ask you why dont you just curl up in the bathtub in the fetal position, oh you could drownd in there... the only way to avoid death is to be dead already
  • Everything we do in life contains some risk. You can die from driving your car to work, or eating a chicken salad sandwich, or playing baseball. It is human nature to weigh our perceived risk against our perceived gain and make a decision about undertaking an activity. People who do drugs perceive the gain to outweigh the risk. It's that simple.
  • 95% of everything people do doesn't make sense.
  • Pretty much the same reason people do LEGAL things that they know is dangerous, like smoking and eating too much (or the wrong stuff). It feels/tastes good, and becomes a habit.
  • You can die from eating too much as well. Bottom line, for a lot of people drugs and/or alcohol are pleasurable. Ultimately, it comes down to self control.
  • more people die each year from legal drugs than illegal drugs ... 100 to 1 if fact , more people die each year from preservatives and additives in legal everyday foods so I can ask you the same question ...why take or eat them
  • Because you only die from overdose's, bad drugs (ie Heroin mixed with sand) or from drinking too much/little WATER. The same is true for legal drugs (except tobacco which simply kills). Alcohol can and does kill, just look at the batch of Russian Vodka released a few years ago, you could buy it in Tesco yet it was made from methanol not ethanol and people were dyeing from it.
  • To follow your logic, people can die from being in/driving a car- so why do they still get into cars? People start drugs for many reasons- usually to get away from something. Sometimes, depending on the drug, they may become addicted and may not be able to quit so easily. Sometimes people just like the feeling it gives. Not everyone overdoses, or does drugs in a "stupid" way (for example, sharing needles, or not paying attention to dosage, or not knowing exactly what it is or what could be in it). Mostly, people just like the rush.
  • I don't have a clue. I wonder why, with all the proof of horrible side effects from mainstream meds ,and all the deaths.. why people use those either. There are safe and effective real choices out there.
  • What are you talking about? They're addicted, that's why. I'm sure if they are high, they're not thinking about dying as much as living forever.
  • Most people have the "it can't happen to me" mentality so they try it out, whatever seek some thrill. What people don't get is drugs can and will take you over. And it's no longer about that person, the drugs run the show. People never learn. People still drink and drive after story after story after story of people dying or killing someone else from it. Just the way it works.
  • It's called addiction.
  • They are fun.
  • Ummmmmm, addiction?
  • To get high man
  • my penis ?
  • No,it doesn't make sense. But neither does eating food that is bad for you or driving a car like an idiot, etc, etc etc.
  • People can die from alcohol overdose, and don't forget people who get cancer from smoking. The prohibition of drugs is moral not scientific. Most drugs like cannabis, ecstasy and cocaine are harmless used properly.
  • THEY WANT THE HIGH..
  • A lot of things can result in deaths more painful or devastating then illegal drugs. But anyway, I suppose they end up taking too much out of ignorance, thinking they can handle it, or maybe they need more to get the high they used to get when first starting out? Or maybe they just didn't know before of how much to take and not to mix and all that and it ended up being too late? It's always a different story. But drugs do feel great when you're on them, and those stories of adventures while on drugs and how great they are get passed on to younger people who eventually want to give it a shot too.
  • HAHA. i don't know....to me, illegal drugs are bettttttttttter:)
