Louisa May Alcott was an American novelist who lived from 1832-1888. She started out as a writer of stories for adults, but made most of her money in children's stories. She's best known for her novel "Little Women," which is somewhat based on her own childhood. After its success, she went on to write a number of other stories, also mostly for children.

She wrote, Little Women Good Wives Jo's Boys. My favourite Authoress as a child. The Chapter in Good Wives called "Valley of tears" is when Beth dies and even reading it today makes me cry.
