Two choices, Ubuntu for supreme ease of use, installation, and configuration. Then the Gentoo minimal install for its difficult install, and ultimate control over every aspect of your system.

I used Ubuntu for a long time. (Along with its derivative Kubuntu.) I liked Sabayon, but I felt they focused more on the "Oh my god! look at that!" effect more than the ease of use. (Plus it had god awful key bindings!) OpenSuSe was fine, but I used the latest version which was really unstable and ultimately ended up freezing upon boot. But my absolute favorite as of right now is Fedora 10. This is possibly the best distro for me. I feel like I flow with Fedora. Everything is how and where I want it and I love the standard theme and coloring. With Ubuntu, I had to spend hours working on a new look and feel (I HATE orange! I CANT stand Ubuntu's human theme, or its icons!) I like Fedora so much, that I am tempted to try LFS to see if I can end up with something I like more. As I wrote this, I realized that Fedora's (or maybe fire fox's?) spell check is set to European English by default. I use American English. This is my first time encountering something like this... Now I am asking myself, how do I fix it?
