  • Yes, I wish to get a high level.
  • Not at all. I see it as a symbol of tenacity and perseverance, mainly because it took me over two and a half years to make Guru, lol.
  • I'm nowhere NEAR I HIGH level, but the ones I DO reach let me know there are others out there that believe I give decent advice. (Validation of what I always said - I GIVE good advice... I just don't take my own advice well! ;-) )
  • No. It means a few different things like spending much time on AB, asking good questions, giving good answers, making freinds and being respectful to all others.
  • No.. I see this being more of an adventure as you go from level to level learning things along the way and seeing how others perceive things and meeting people. Earning points and obtaining the different levels is the icing on the cake.
  • No, because almost everyone I know who has made it to the top decided to give it up and start all over again at the bottom.
  • Sort of...when you see level 70, generally the first reaction is "wow"...but I know some ABers that are only low levels, and they are great people.
  • No. I see it more as a composite measure of popularity and too much free time, mostly the former. There are too many people espousing unpopular opinions getting nailed even though their contributions ARE useful in that they provide an opposing viewpoint. I often fall into this category myself. Then there are people who are just point magnets. Say something popular but useless ("God Bless America!") and you get points even though points are meant to reflect USEFULNESS. I see people racking up more points in a day than I get in a month, making Guru in no time flat and wonder; how does the actual use of points compare to the intended 'Useful/Not Useful' use?
  • Nah. It only shows how bored I am.
  • LOL! Not at all. What status do you gain from everyone knowing you spend WAY too much time on the computer, no matter how good your questions and answers are? I've really had quite the adventure here on AB meeting people, discussing interesting things, learning people's histories and backgrounds, just by all of these questions and answers but I've never thought of anyone here having a status different than just Friends and people who aren't my friends yet.
  • Nooooooooooo Status at what Time wasting or proving that I have no life outside of work and the gym?. I am afraid that is all it proves to me.
