  • Why do people who have smoked 2 packs a day for 40 years not develope lung cancer? Second hand smoke could be one explanation for your question, but not mine. I think cancer is an inherant trait of human beings, and you either have it or you don't.
  • http://www.ash.org.uk/html/factsheets/html/fact04.html http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/diseases/facts/lungcancer.htm 90% of all lung cancer is smoking related. Your chances of getting it if you've never smoked are slim, but not impossible. http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1092120,00.html This article makes some suggestions; unsurprisingly, the single biggest reason (as with many other cancers)is genetic pre-disposition. Environmental factors can also play a role. Miners, and anyone who lives or works in an environment with high levels of respirable dust, which can irritate the lungs, will have a slightly increased risk of various lung conditions, which occasionally include cancer. There is a case for the passive smoking argument: British TV presenter Roy Castle who died of cancer some years ago, campaigned heavily against passive smoking, as he believed it played a part in his condition. Certainly research shows that breathing in the smoke of others can have a negative effect on health.
  • id say breathing in other harmful chemicals in just the air. also never running or breathing deeeply and eating crap food. I believe in many cases ( assuming it's not really really advnced), lots and lots of fruits and vegetables with biking or running, water, and so on will literally REVERSE the effects of cancer , or at least drastically reduce speed or go into remission. cancer is when the cells dont know ehrn to stop growing, so strong logic,(and Lance armstrong i beileive won his fight in this exact way) would lead me to beleive simple use of the affected area correctly and basic health stuff will be a great weapon, depending on if this is still possible.
  • It leads one to wonder if your cause of death is pre-determined. I don't know if I believe that but Dana Reeve died at 44 from lung cancer and never smoked. Smokers sometimes live to 100. Who knows?? :)
  • Pollution in general... Pollution related to their job... Pollution from commuting...
