Isn't it a great shame that adults make the world such a difficult and ugly place for children to live in? Why can't adults "grow up" and make it better for them?

The truth of that is it might look like an adult, but that doesn't mean it is one. After all age is just a number. It's how you behave that counts. Add in we are a pleasure and instant gratifiction driven socity that shows very little care for how our actions effect others so long as we're happy and it's no wounder the world is a horrible place for children these days. Until we adults decide to pull our heads out of our butts and start acting like adults it's not going to change either.

I think your first answer put it well. Age is not necessarily directly proportional to maturity.

Wisdom, unfortunately, doesn't always come with age. and some people never do seem to be able to grow up. I've met people years older than I am (and I'll be 45 soon) that as immature as children....calling names, being bullies. Why else would we still have children growing up the same way? It's a shame, really. Sadly, there will always be people like that around. Fortunately, they are in the minority.
