I have a TV that will help find the remote for you.. it's kinda cool, if you manually turn the TV on with one button instead of the other, it will signal the remote to start beeping!

Get up off of your bum, walk the 10 feet to your TV and push the button. I remember when TVs still had the twist dial for changing the channel. My dad called me his clicker.

In the old days, we actually had to change the channel on the TV. If you just have a monitor, you might actually have to get up and go over to your receiver and change the channels. There should be an on/off switch on the monitor. For a regular TV, you should know where the switches are... If not, they should be marked. ;-) Of course, during the day and if they're home, you could have a human remote control (your kids) change it, turn it up and down for you! ;-)
