There's much debate about the ideal forest density... but it's somewhere around 500 seedlings per acre... 700 million seedlings planted at 500/spa would cover 700,000,000seedlings / 500spa / 640acres per sq mile == approximately 2200 square miles. Ethiopia's land mass is 425,000 square miles.

It is really a debatable issue. I don't know what type of tree or forest or climate that you are talking about..and those are critical issues. The amount of biomass that a specific area can handle varies greatly.
