About 8-10 hrs. depending on route and stops.

You don't want to speed too bad in VA and NC. They will lock you up and the NJ plates won't score you a get out of jail free card if you know what I mean. I would say 10 hours. You'll take I-81 most of the way and make good time. I don't know where you're going and coming from. I guessed South Amboy to Knoxville.
