Oh, yes! I work in a buffet-style family restaurant! 1. When we tell them the rules regarding discounts, we're not doing it to be difficult or to be rude to them, but these are the the rules we've been given. We can't give everyone the highest discount, or multiple discounts, or we'll never make a profit. 2. If you have small children, and there is a long line, order their beverages for them, or give them a choice of two or three things ("you can have fruit punch or sprite"), instead of holding up the lines and telling them all the drink choices, then letting them dawdle and change their mind, etc. 3. You know you're going to have to pay when you get to the cash register. Why not have your payment ready (your wallet out, your credit card in hand, etc), instead of having to look around for it when you get there. 4. We are a very busy establishment in a tourist area. When you see the many cars and motorcoaches outside, or see the line to the door when you come in, please don't wait until you're in the food line then complain about how many people are here and how long the lines are. It should have been obvious to you when you got here. 5. Please, please don't take your frustrations out on my cashiers. They are just doing their job. If you have a complaint, ask to see a manager, but please don't yell at my cashiers or front line employees for doing what they are supposed to do. You are an adult -- they are teenagers -- many in their first job. They don't make the rules -- it's just their job to follow them.
