Here I go again.I am afraid I will be downrated unmercifully, but there should be a universal gun ban to all civilians. I know it is written in the constitution, but there should be a world law that supercedes that law. Guns and people do not mix at all.Crimes of passion, school shootings, under the influence of liquor or drugs, revenge, are all good reasons to not have guns so available.

there is in Canada
-
No. If for no other reason we need to protect ourselves from the government.
-
In the US, we would need to amend to Constitution to remove the 2nd amendment, our right to bear arms. But it shouldn't be. Likewise, civilians everywhere should have the right to bear arms, concealed or otherwise. Citizens should be able to protect themselves from an unjust or dysfunctional government - no less true today than in 1776. They should also be able to defend themselves from others - criminals will always find their way to weapons. I'd rather have one in case they come knocking. And in a community where people are allowed to carry concealed guns, I, if I were a criminal, would be less likely to try to mug someone. But that's just me.

Yeah ok. While you are at it why don't you ban speeding, making a right on red, cell phone while driving (unless Blue tooth), Cheating on your spouse, Cigarettes, alchohol, Of course drugs (even Medicinal) Yeilding to pedestrians, Child abuse, etc. There are laws in some if not all states regarding these "laws". People break them.
-
No. There should be a universal ban on stupidity.
-
Why? Set aside misguided optimism and childish pseudo-logic and tell me why? Charcoal, Saltpeter, and Sulfur, plus an ignition system; hot wire (matchlock) Mercury Fulminate, electric spark.... This assumes we do not embrace magnetic Linear Accelerators or utilize compressed air (BB guns; certain historical military rifles) or something else. Ever make a potato cannon? Oh, and Calcium Carbide.... Try banning 'em. See what happens. Maybe people will make them at home. Maybe there will be a black market started between the people who can make guns and those who want them. Remember Prohibition? Moonshiners and organized crime made out and drinking didn't stop. Wait... ever hear of Bows? You know, the things we used to kill people far away before there were firearms. Or how about the up-close and personal touch of blades? Martial arts? Axes? Strangling?

ok take out the emphasis if it makes you feel better. it speaks for itself
-
Only if they can figure out how to get CRIMINALS to honor it.
-
it has NOT worked here in Australia ... the crooks are running amok(because no one can shoot at them) and knife attacks are up 1000%... how about education and better gun controls over who can but one seems a no brainer to me
-
"If guns were outlawed, only outlaws would have them." If they take our second amendment, they will be at liberty to take the rest.
-
yes right after we ban knives, rolingpins, high places, cars, poison and sharp plastic bits.
-
Absolutely not. How about a universal ban of weapons for governments? That sounds better to me.
-
gun control doesnt reduce all crime, obviously. It reduces murder and related crime. do you have statistics stating otherwise? if so i would be interested to see them.
-
it doesnt reduce all crime, obviously, only murder and such. if you have statistics that say otherwise i would like to see them?

I'm an advocate for gun control. I think it should be pervasive in our society and taught at an early age. Since no one's said it yet..... Gun control means being able to hit your target.
-
following that logica we shouldnt have laws at all b/c somebody will just end up breaking every one. they are established to make clear what society considers unacceptable and establish standardized ways to deal with undesireable behavior.
-
none of us are civilians. we are all citizens.and like all of our forefathers and founding fathers should be patriots. and if we are to be patriots shouldnt we ALL be armed to insure a free state.
