I think the last time I looked it was Tim Montgomery who ran the 100m dash in 9.78 seconds. I think that was in 2002. However, I could be wrong so it's Googlin' time. OK, the latest I've seen so far is Asafa Powell, who established a new world record with a time of 9.77 seconds in Athens in June, 2005.
