All the time, it's good fun. Also it makes some people in New York uncomfortable, which amuses me.

yes I find that everyone was once a stranger and the best way to make them not strangers is to be friendly and talk to them.

No I don´t. I do not like to talk to complete strangers unless I know I can trust them. But it also depends on where I am. Not everywhere I can trust everyone.

Sure. Most say hi right back.

yes! It makes the world a nicer place :o) I especially do this more now that I live in the south. People are far more congenial to one another here than in the "hostile" north.

Sure. I think it's fun and maybe that person will say hello to someone else. Kindness and smiles are contagious! But I avoid anyone who sends out that "creep" vibe. Eeewww....

Absolutely! I find that it helps break the tension that can be created by eye contact. It's much better than making eye contact then looking away leaving the other person wondering... "Why did they look away?" Someone saying Hi to me always perks me right up, so if I can perk someone else up it makes my day. The same reason I smile and am extra friendly to the grumpy checkout person at the store, or the person who just got yelled at by a rude customer.

All the time. As I pass them in the market, or on the street. If I'm in my car, I wave to people that I pass on my road or that are in their yard. We're more rural and friendly out in the country. It might be different in the city though I doubt I would change as I've been this way for years and years:-)

Not often. I've had some weirdos respond strangely & even stop me just because I said hello. So I tend not to. Sometimes they'll start asking for money or cigarettes or something, so its just best to keep going.
