I have never seen a difference in fuel mileage between a truck that has jake brakes and one that does not. Jake brakes only opperate when the fuel pedal is at 0% or completely depressed. Also the injector rocker arm pushes a rod to turn the jakes off on injection stroke. Fuel mileage is mainly affected by the high RPM, terrian, idle time, and air intake. The injectors will continue to inject fuel at all times but will shut the "jake" off on that perticular cylinder. I dont believe jakes will effect fuel mileage in anyway.

There is no possible way that a truck with a "Jake (Jacob) Brake" system can use more fuel then a truck without one, the Jake Brake ONLY works when the Accelerator Pedal is released (raised), the injectors (in most engines, particularly older ones) are still firing and putting in some fuel but at what would be the "Idling" amount per injection, this will be the same regardless of weather the Jake Brake (or exhaust Brake which is quite different Braking System than the Jake Brake but is often wrongly called the Jake Brake) is used or not.
