  • Get a lawyer and have that lawyer contact the owners of the house. If the owners aren't aware they will be informed. If they are aware and just aren't doing it, then it's a warning that you're willing to break the lease as you would be losing your place of residence. Richard Shines

  • Why are you receiving letters concerning someone elses financial obligations? Or did they come to your address, but addressed to the homeowner? It is a federeal offense to open mail not addressed to you, so before you try to break a lease make sure you have gotten the information legally. It seems, however, that if a lien is put on the home, you would be entitled to break the lease. But if the homeowner will not agree to it, you may have to take them to small claims court.
