Yes but not having any restraints has been proven to be worse.
I have had bruises from a seatbelt.... bruises heal! I have also seen the results of no seatbealts, not a good thing!

Yes, they can. When my dad had his accident in January, the force of the seatbelts resraining him against the impact broke some ribs and the airbag busted his nose.....

HOWEVER!!! If he hadn't been wearing his seatbelt and the airbag hadn't deployed, he'd probably be dead instead of just injured.

I'll take a banged up dad over a deceased dad any day of the week.

Yes, they can...but usually the injuries are minor. Think of it this way: would you rather be injured or dead?

I'd rather be cut out of 'most' vehicles than thrown from it :)
I actually knew a guy (idiot btw) who was convinced that he shouldn't wear seat bealt b/c he was safer being thrown from the vehicle than 'trapped' in it...I'm sure you've seen it all!!

Anything that brings your body from highway speeds to stopped in less than a second will leave a mark. In most cases, though, those marks are a lot better than the injuries you would receive without the restraint systems.

A seatbelt will leave a mark if it stops you from 60km/h, but so would a dash. Which one would you prefer?

Yes. Seat belts can bruise you and airbags can kill.

If you are 5 foot 1 or shorter and drive, the airbags are a danger for you.

If you didn't have them then youd be dead instead of a bruised shoulder. Really.

Never claimed you shouldn't use them.

The seat belts that are in the middle back seat can be dangerous, (the ones with only one strap across your lap) they can cause severe damage to your internal organs, because in a serious crash the impact/force is almost entirely put onto your abdomen. Check out this article

My wife got into an accident and set off the airbag. She was doing 45 MPH when a truck tried to cross the street in front of her. The seatbelt left a bruise on her shoulder and the airbag gave her a friction type burn on her cheek. If it wasn’t for the seatbelt she would have hit the windshield. Without the airbag she would have broke her nose at the least.

Any restraint system can injure you. The chance of injury is reduced by proper use. In most cases the injury caused by the restraint (bruises, scrapes, burns) is much less than you would get without them (cuts, broken bones, death) Modern air bags now have 2 stage inflation along with passanger position detection to eliminate some of the early problems with smaller drivers. These systems also detect a child safety seat and turn off the air bag if needed. Please buckle up, Every Time.

I wear a seatbelt everywhere I go, but I don't trust airbags at all.

If they were in my car, I'd disable them without hesitation.
