Oh yay! I've never encountered a DCI fan on AB. I have a friend that marches in Phantom Regiment, and another in Memphis Sound. I do know that Mellophones have REALLY hard music most of the time, so I don't know if that would be your best shot for drum corps. But it's not that hard to learn the lower instruments. Good luck!

Hey! No need to give up the percussion- you may just have to switch specialty. There is always the pit, though then you wouldn't be marching. Plenty of other percussionists march, though. Plus, you wouldn't have to worry about embature and all that! Although, if you did switch, you might get farther with something with a lower register, as was noted in another answer. Unless you already have experience with something higher, of course.

I guess it depends on at what level of drum corps you want to play. That'll be a good deal of work to completely start from scratch on such a different instrument. Also, do you read music? Probably so. Buy, hey, if it's something you want to do, go for it!
