    mfg. suggests 80k miles. i have seen the last 150k.you are lucky toyota engineered adequate clearances in the engine, so if and when the belt breaks there will be no internal engine damage....

    There is no timing belt on a 1998 Toyota Corolla (U.S. Model). There is a timing chain but it does not normally need maintenance for the life of the car.
