Black Cats are actually good luck. I can't remember the reason why they are supposed to bring good luck or why some people say it's bad, but in the old days, having a black cat in your house was supposed to bring good health to your family in the time of the plague. Cats were also sacred animals in ancient Egypt. Perhaps there is a connection.

Perhaps not, but I let my cat out Tuesday night to eat a bit of grass when he spied a black cat and chased him down the street and around the corner. We didn't see our cat again until Thursday morning. Worried us sick. THAT black cat was DEFINITELY bad luck. -

No, I don't believe that they are bad luck. I adopted 2 black cats and they have the best personalities. So many of them are being put under at shelters, due to people believing that they are bad luck. I have 1 tabby and 2 black cats.

Definitely not! I have a black cat. He is such a gorgeous animal. He makes my life more colorful (even though he is black). So I'd say black cats are sweet! Definitely not bad luck, but good luck!

Of course not. I've owned a black one, and my husband has, also, before we knew each other. They were great cats. The woman who helped us in adopting our two present cats, however, said that black cats are harder to place than others are - so some people must still harbor this superstition. I have had three black cats over the years and each one left me unexpectedly, perhaps they were the ones with the bad luck. One was hit by a car, one ran off into the woods and never came back, and the last one died from some kind of poisoning we could never identify. They all had great personalities :)

If I thought black cats were bad luck, I'd be in a heap of trouble -- my Mojo and Princess Smurf are both solid black. My Lucy La-La, Tipper, and Cocoa are both Tuxedo kitties (black with white feet and white chests), plus I have my neighbors' abandoned black cat, Bagheera, in my bathroom, with her six kittens, three of which are solid black. They don't bring me bad luck -- they bring me lots of love.

It used to say that if black cat crosses us when we are leaving somewhere, it is bad indication and something bad may happen. Im following since i dont want to take risk and respecting my parents word. My personal opinion is, it could be so and in other hand it could be that black cats are giving early precautions before something worse happened. Why dont we just follow... No harm rite

They definitely are bad luck, because you can not see them at night and if you step on them, they may bite you, then you have to go to the doctor and take some injection. That is bad luck for me.

Hello, no i don't,i have a black cat and its the best cat i have ever had,he listens when i tell him no, he is so loveable and very affectionate and pats me on the face to get me up in the mornings and if i walk by him ,he pats me on the arm to get my attention and when iam bent over looking out the window, he climbs on my back and lays down looking out the window with me, we have a gray cat and he doesn't do any of that and i wouldn't trade my black cat for any cat out their as the black cats are the greatiest as far as iam concerned.my grandmother was that way with black cats and she would make my grandfather turn around and go the other way if she seen a black cat crossing the road.i use to think she was nuts and you know what she had to be on black cats, as mine is the most loveing cat i have ever had and if something would happen to him i would get another one.it what people what to believe and its not true.people don't know what they are missing of haveing one. wendy

Absolutely not. I have black cats and a Siamese cat. They're a delight. They are strictly indoor cats and I do everything to keep them safe, healthy and well cared for. If the people that abuse such wonderful creatures were caught and given the same kind of abuse and punishment..That would be justice!

Absolutely not. In times of trouble people will always look for someone or something to blame. When I think of all the beautiful felines that have perished because of that ridiculous superstition it just makes me want to go postal. There is a neighborhood near here every year that kills a black cat and puts it on my friend's doorstep. If I EVER catch who did that, they will wish they had slit their own throat.

In the old days, black cats were associated with witches and were seen as witchcraft objects, so the people were mad and burned the cats and witches because witchcraft was a wicked and ugly thing for Christians to see. People don't like magic and the occult. In some places, black cats were considered good luck. I don't considered any animal good or bad but they're just animals. That doesn't mean black cats are bad or good.
