They are not children and are beyond being taught by someone who they obviously don't respect. just ignoring them, like placing them in a mental timeout chair is enough.

NO! The law has some very definite ideas against it, and the penalties are severe. Only a very disturbed person would ever think such a thing. If such an act were carried out, it would mean the parents were successful in teaching violent behavior. Not exactly the kind of success to be proud of. How can "they hurt me" be justification for "now I'll hurt them"? Does pain teach only the desire to inflict more pain. If human kind can't to rise above the mis deeds of the past we are all doomed.

It is never acceptable to strike anyone. Period. If you feel you may resort to physically harming your parents, please get someone else lined up as caregiver for everyone's sake.

I cannot imagine doing so Fauxlo. But then again, I lack credibility within this question's context as I was blessed with wonderful parents who never even abused me verbally let alone anything physical. A very close friend once told me that heaven lies under the feet of a mother.
