  • More power to them, but I'd do my very best to keep my mouth shut with the exception of my immediate family, very close friends, accountant/financial advisor and lawyer. I think to do otherwise is inviting trouble.
  • If someone wants to, good for them. I wouldn't tell a soul if I could get away with it!
  • I could see a person getting wrapped up in the emotions and running into work and telling off their boss and quitting their job... then realizing they have to annuitize it and get an annual payout that really doesn't equate to as much as they thought after taxes and then go back to work and apologize and beg for their job back... Tooting your own horn only draws attention to you, and if you draw attention to the fact that you have money, people will come to you and ask for it if they are kind, take it from you if they are unkind.
  • Most people go from Riches to Rags because everyone and their brother nickel-and-dime them out of all their money. If I won the lottery, I'd still drive the same cheap car, the same cheap clothes, and I'd be the same old me... But I'd have one helluva entertainment center =)
  • I don't car is they do. If it was me I would never tell a soul not even my family! I would share it with them without letting them know. It makes it more fun!
  • Nothing wrong with it but I personally would be careful who I told
  • I think it would be dangerous to be too outspoken about it not the mention all the hassles you would get from the greedy, desperate people who will try to get money from you. I think I would follow the advice of setting up an entity to claim the money and only telling close family, friends and trusted business advisors.
  • They can do whatever they want to, but winning the lottery requires zero skill or intelligence, it's just playing the odds (which are NOT in your favor). Sure, one may have a strategy in choosing the winning numbers, but wins are rarely replicated. (It's happened before, but there's no correlation.)
