  • The mechanisms are slightly different. To get a call queuing, the company receiving the call has many lines, but not as many people to handle them, so connects the extra lines to a call-queuing machine inside the company. You get the busy signal when all the lines are occupied i.e. the phone company has no line to connect the call to. For a company, that may be when 100 lines are in use, even if they only have ten telephonists. For a domestic line, that is when the one and only line is in use. Busy signals are generated by the phone company when they cannot connect the call to the callee's building. Call queues are generated by the callee when they have received the call but have no-one to answer it.
  • In the US, you can pay an extra 75 cents or something to have the call automatically dial again, once hte busy line is off. Not worth it to me, I can re-dial the phone again myself.
  • that is an option that you can pay for (of course)..at least where I live.
