In order of preference B, A, D and C.

Well I can answer that, My boy cat is from a news paper ad and the girl cat is from a woman I work with who wanted to get rid of her. But I would go to the pound before I would buy a dog from anyone. I do not need a expensive dog just a good one.

B is my choice. I would rather get it from a home.

If I was actively looking for a pet, I would go to the animal rescue group, or ask my veterinarian if she knew of any. I would never go to a sign or box in front of a store because that is just encouraging irresponsible people to bring more animals into an already overpopulated world. Every responsible pet owner has their pets vaccinated and spayed/neutered right from the very start.

In my case for a dog, it would be a top breeder of my preferred breed. A cat I would go to the shelter. At one time in the past, I had 28 strays here. Most were dropped off at the driveway and wandered back on the farm. One dog I adopted from the town shelter so IF forced to make a choice on the above selections, it would be the shelter.

Don't you have 2 D's there?;) I was recently looking and went to a rescue organisation. See my avatar for the cutie I chose. If I was looking again, i would do the same thing.

I get my chihuahuas from breaders, I dont buy from stores because I never know if they are going to be from a puppy mill.

Depends on if it's a cat or dog. We prefer Newfoundland and I only get those from good concerned breeders or through a reputable rescue for Newfs. We do water rescue and other activities with our dogs and Newfs were bred for that. If it's a cat, it probably would come from a shelter or rescue group. I would never get a pet from a pet store. I would rather take the time and find a reputable breeder if I was looking for something specific. And I don't support back yard breeders or people who just let their animals breed by accident or to educate their children. I am for responsible pet ownership and that includes spaying and neutering.

all of my pets have came from free ads or animal shelters. i always like the idea of helping an animal and having so much love returned to me.........
-
all four of my cats are strays that have come to me...so if i were looking for a new cat, i'd just be patient as it's only a matter of time until another one comes along...people are so cruel that they just dump their pets out along the road...

B or D, because I don't want to support puppy mills by going to the pet store, but if I went to the pound, I'd probably find skittish, abused animals there. If the family is directly involved in giving away the pet and meeting potential new owners, they must care about the dog. A loved dog is a happy dog.

First, I would look through the classified ads for people looking to give up an older pet, as those pets are the least likely to get adopted. If I did not find what I wanted that way, I would go to the animal shelter, again wanting an older or special needs animal. I would never go to a pet store, and the free to good home signs usually refer to puppies/kittens, and they are not spayed/neutered, etc... same goes for the animals in the boxes out front of stores. While I never want to see an animal sent to a shelter (I only want to see them get out of one to go to good homes), puppies and kittens do not have to live at the shelter too long, so I do not feel too badly for them. As for the two pets I have now, my dog is a 6 1/2 yr old pit bull who has food allergies, is sensitive to sunlight (she's mostly white), and is fear aggressive towards other dogs (she was rescued by my ex husband from the streets of Phoenix, AZ); and my cat is only 1 year old, but she was born into a feral colony that my neighbor was feeding. She contracted Feline Rhinotracheitis Virus, and was only days (if that) from death when she started sleeping on my door step. I took her to the vet (many times now), and she is now healthy, but as a result of this virus that she will have for the rest of her life, she is blind in her left eye.
