Some yes... Check any college psyc textbook thats fairly new you will find some things about mental activity on a regular basis in older people fights off altzimers and such, I do not think it will make you smarter per say but you may have more organized thoughts. The more you use your brain the sharper it gets if you dont do anything your cognitions can become slowed. The specific example that I remember was that in convents where nuns had regular scheduled activity such as games and chores they were much more tangable at older ages and the onset of altzimers was almost nonexistant...
