    There is no average blood sugar level, but daily readings should be between 5 and 12 and HPA1C levels should be as low as possible. You should aim for about 7, and anything above 12 is dangerous.

    how bad is a reading on 20.5 where no food etc has been eaten since 7pm night before and it is now 11 am

    Ummmmm
    In Australia we aim to keep levels between about 3.5mmol and 7.0mmol, under 10mmols is ok over 15mmols is too high

    under 3.5mmols is becoming dangerously low and you need to eat some carbs
