Sherpa is the name for a group of people who migrated from Tibet to Nepal about 500 years ago. The people who act as mountain guides in the Himalayas, the mountain range where Mt. Everest is, are also known as sherpas, with a lower case "s". Sherpas(the ethnic group) are not all mountain guides but all mountain guides are called sherpas (with a lower case "s").
