Sometimes, depending on what mood I'm in. Once or twice I've bought them lunch. But I haven't met a beggar in a long time now.

Yes, I have given money to beggars before. They appeared to be really deserving cases. Quantum was not very much, usually enough for them to purchase simple meals. Now I am a little more selective because my friends reminded me that there are people who would fake illness just to appeal to our sympathies.

I never directly give beggars money. A good deal of em are only looking for money to get more crack or some liquor. I don't approve of either so why would I give my hard earned money to someone who will use it to get high with. If I see a beggar and I genuinely believe they are hungry I will either give them some food I have on me such as a sandwhich or piece of fruit or I will take them to where they want to go and buy them something to eat.

I gave 12$ to a beggar that came to my door with medical papers and a sad story.

...then i continued my studies and my jobs. i found re-sale potential @ m&s and started selling on ebay (which has expanded into what it is today) i then met alan and after a short while propesed. im pretty much sorted now, and me being homeless seems like a thing of the past.

Sometimes...depends on how I feel. I've given as much as $10 to a guy who had a pretty good story. He caught me in the right mood.

I give them food, never money. They don't need another bottle of booze. That's not helping.

I will sometimes give money to buskers (street musicians) but never to beggars. When they claim they need it for food, I have sometimes offered to take them to a fast food joint and buy them something. Usually a good third of them turn me down with a curse, as they didn't need food as much as they needed their next fix. Hope this helps.

No. I will give them food. I will take them to a diner and pay for their meal, and I've done that. I've offered them work when they've had a sign asking for it. But they almost always turn my offers down because I won't come up with cash.

I give beggars money sometimes. One beggar I would see many places around town; the story was always the same: no gas money, he lived 10-15 miles away, and 2 to 10 dollars should help. The last time he asked we recognized each other and he promised for 2 dollars he would never ask again. Less than 2 weeks later I see him and he sees me, on the edge of our town. He is making his rounds in a covenient store parking lot when he starts towards me. He looked at me, I looked at him, and he looked at the ground, looked away, walked away, and has not spoken to me again, to this very day. If this could be arranged with every stranger, I would pay out a little more often, at least to those individuals who never give up, are so pushy, and always are looking for a nice person like me, who doesn't bother anyone, to give them the biggest handout possible. Help is helpful to anyone, rich or poor, and sometimes I think if I personally did not have a place to stay, a good drink before bed time would NOT be such a bad thing.
