  • This depends on which one you ultimately want to play as your instrument. If you start on a nylon strung classical guitar you will not give your fingers such a hard time, but if you take up a steel strung guitar - electric or acoustic - your fingers will take more of a hammering which will get easier as your skin hardens. (I'm talking fingertips here!) You need to find out by trying a few different guitars, and learn on the one which is the most comfortable for you.
  • I think electric is easy to learn with. Partly because it will feel better for you 'cos the most part of learning the guitar is getting over the mechanical side of where to put your fingers and when, holding the neck etc. Electrics are usually slimmer necked which will help you out. Also, bending notes will be easier on elecs. with the amp and all... Not only that, you dont want to get too bored, not saying that an acoustic will be boring, but i think there's more of a variety of sound and techniques you can get out of an elec thats gonna keep you interested. That's my humble opinion, anyway! :)
  • I find a low-bridged electric easier to play than an acoustic. I'd say an electric would be easier for a beginner but an acoustic would probably be easier on anyone within earshot. ;) JK.
  • I started playing electric a little while ago and purchased a course from http://www.metalmethod.com/101.html so I could learn to play. In the first stage of the course it addresses that electric guitars are usually the easiest to learn on because the strings are closer to the fretboard and it allows you to better your technique. I think there is more technique to learn on electric and you will also be able to play acoustic.
