  • What should you do? Tell your mother how this makes you feel, and about your attachment to the "original" cat. Why exactly does she want to get rid of the "original" cat? Do they fight? If one cat is "cheap entertainment," would two be even more entertaining? This makes no sense to me. Please don't do anything to harm the "new" cat or encourage him to run away. If you AND your parents agree that your family should only have one cat, please contact the Humane Society or SPCA in your area to find the other cat a loving home. Cats do not survive very long on the street - you don't really want that to happen to "the pest," do you? Good luck!
  • Out with the old and in with the new? Horrible lesson for your mother to be modeling for you. If there is a reason why the two cats can't co-exist then the NEWCOMER needs to be found a new home. Your cat is attached and shouldn't be cast out of the family because new 'cheap entertainment' has shown up. Tell your mom that you don't think it's right to reward your cat who is settled and has stayed at home by throwing him away just because a stray has shown up.
