    I did a lot of research on this and this is what I came up with.

    If your going by games, it's Willie Keeler. He did it in less then 1300 games.

    If your going by at-bats it's Ty Cobb did it in approx. 5300 at-bats.

    If your going by the amount of years in the Majors, it's Kirby Puckett in just over 10 seasons.

    Also, Derek Jeter has 2,000 career hits in 1,571 career games and that's the fifth-fastest to the milestone among players who made their major league debut since 1961, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Here's a look at when some legends got their 2,000th hit:
