Depends on how fast you heal, average is about 2-3 months. If you need a change before then, like if you got longer jewelry for swelling and need it downsized, go back to your piercer so they can autoclave and insert it for you.

There are different degrees of healing. Most people refer to the point in time when it no longer gets sore, no longer drains,is not swollen , and jewelry goes in and out effortlessly. This takes months. You can though, change your jewelry to a more comfortable size as soon as the swelling goes down, which is usually within about 4 days or so. You can do it yourself, easily with internally threade jewelry. If you want help, just check out www.changemypiercing.com. The sell a little tool that you can use to make sure you don't loose connection.

Mine took 2 weeks to heal and i could change the ball and all.

The first phase of healing occurs within 6 weeks, after that, you can change out the jewelery but don't leave it out, always have jewelery in. It'll heal quicker and better if you do sea salt soaks.

It takes about 3 weeks for it to heal totally. After that, changing rings is alright.
