  • Tell them lots of good things it will cause: -Raise self-esteem -Make you more beautiful -Help you make friends -Make you less self-conscious -Make you more modest -Tell them that you will pay for it -Say you'll do the dishes for a month -Say it's an early christmas/hannukah/kwanza present -Say it will help you focus on schoolwork instead of worrying about your plain abdomen
  • As someone who has had their belly pierced, I do not recommend it to minors. Nor do I recommend it to adults who have not thoroughly examined the very real and common risks (such as scarring, rejection, and infection), what is required to help it heal, and the very long healing time. Navel piercings can take a year to heal - much longer than most other piercings, and they can be painful if you do not take good care of them and otherwise leave them alone. Also, be prepared to wear loose fitting pants or skirts for the next couple weeks if needed after piercing so as not to pressure on the ring. Moreover, many piercers WILL NOT do navel piercings for minors at all since you are still growing and a piercing that looks good now might not in a year or two - and then you're stuck with it (or at least the scars). Back to your question, though. Show your parents everything you have researched - including the bad stuff. Show them information about the piercer you have chosen, including all their various policies, what type of jewelry they use (ask for titanium), how they ensure a hygienic work place, etc. Show them how you came to the decision that you want the piercing despite the con's and show them how you plan to reduce your risk of problems. Hopefully, you have already shown your parents that you are a responsible person by doing well in school, taking care of chores, being a hygienic person, etc. If not, start now and wait awhile before asking (or else your parents might think you are just doing it so they'll say 'yes').
  • ha... in your dreams
  • Just wait until you're 18, you can be uber cool then.
  • tell them you will wash the dishes every evening and stay home one weekend a month, and contribute money to the house budget on a monthly basis. . why do we have questions that are sooooo old?
  • I THINK GETTING UR BELLY BUTTON PIERCED IS REALLY NOT BAD PARENTS ACT LIKE THEIR KIDS ARE GONNA BEING SHOWING EVERYBODY AND IF YOU YOU CAN FOCUS ON UR SCHOOL WORK OTHER THAN UR EMPTY BELLY BUTTON
  • Convince one of them, or create a split in the parental unit. Set them against each other, and then side with one of them, they will side with you, and in a moment of parental stupidity that is almost unavoidable, one of them will give you permission. Or you can just go and get it done. That's what I did with the tribal tattoo on my arm. My mum was in shock for a while but oh well, she likes it now!
