I think it is not worth wasting your time thinking about hacks. There are many out there. In music, many acts are just products of the music industry without real personality. In visual arts, there are commercial decorators who are mistaken for real artists, and in literature, it is the same. You can only try to find out yourself. the more time you spend reading, looking and listening, the better your ability to detect hacks will become. Better ask for authentic artists!
