  • By coincidence, I also own an '89 Chevy Mallard which is actually a Chevy G30 (1 ton) Van with the coach stuff added by Mallard. I'm not sure what you're referring to by the 'brake manifold'. This 8900 pound GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) truck uses power steering fluid pressure to boost the brake fluid pressure (as opposed to manifold vacuum boost on lighter-duty vehicles). The GM trademark term for this technology is 'Hydroboost'. Other than that, the brake system is not too unusual with dual-circuit master cylinder, front discs and giant rear drums. The master cylinder fluid reservoir sits right next to the battery. Let me know if you have any other chassis or RV questions for this particular unit.
