The jury is still out on this. The Beatles still are selling records due to recent remastering and new compilations being issued. At one point ABBA was resonsible for the Gross National Product of Sweden.

It's unfair to compare, since the Beatles will always have a ten-year lead or something. Better just count during their active years, and not all those compilation albums who are released several times every year nowadays.

what is not said and unfair is that in the billion is inbcluded the solo works and abba did very few solo works even agnetha did very few promotion for her solo carrier,frida did succed with one of the two solo albums ,bjorn and benny have one album internationally (chess) just tell me ,what would have happened if lennon and macartney released english folk albums ,would they have sold such ?
