While being an ex athlete I wear more tennis shoes than anything else, although I found I am now most comfortable in boots. Boots get my vote.

Don't laugh but it's my Earth shoes. So hideously ugly but I can walk for miles and miles with my bad feet in them. They cured my plantar fasciitis inside of two weeks. I wish they looked less like Frankenstein feet but in the end they are my feet and they get sore on long walks without these silly shoes. I got them on Zappos. They have a negative heel. Sort of the opposite of a high heel. It stretches the sore tendon that causes the heel pain.
