"Your interest in visual culture" ... sounds like you are writing an artists bio, describing why you do art. For an art school application or art exhibit perhaps? If so, then a "creative statement" is a description of why you create. Or how you create. What you create. What motivates you, what's the process involved, and what is the intended outcome? As you work with visual media or within the visual society/culture, what are you creating? For some examples, go to any art gallery and read the one-page bio of the artist. They use big words and obscure phrases like "I am informed by the work of ...", "... within the yadda yadda school of thought", "... from the sensibilities of ...", "..to synthesize and animate elements of ...". Just bullsh!t like a pompous ass having lots of fun, and the rich people will think you're onto something.
