I think you should just leave it alone. You don't know why it happened. If you tell on someone, someone will tell on you.

I think you should do what's right for you, regardless the statute of limitations... but do you really want to get into this -- it is quite an accusation, and would almost certainly require you to appear in court as a witness. Given that -- then your history goes on trial, because the defense would want to paint you as someone that couldn't be trusted.

Being aware of the commission of a crime is a long way from having proof enough to result in prosecution in a court of law. Unless you have evidence/proof, you will be beating your head against a brick wall. What do you want to accomplish? If you want someone arrested and charged, you could call the police and ask them what would be required.
