What do you think about the Iowa Legislature having an Imam(Muslim) open session with a prayer in Arabic where he asks Allah for victory over disbelievers and protection from the great Satan ( what do they call the U.S)

I was unaware of this happening and it would not matter to me .I would also say satan in the Islamic religion is the same satan as in the Christian and other religions.Please do not imply it is the USA for I would say that it is nonsense that a few radicals believe.

Actually he said, "Protection from the cursed Satan", http://www.radioiowa.com/gestalt/go.cfm?objectid=7A0CCC01-BDAA-6498-80C253DC26AD6663 I don't really see anything wrong with this -- not that religion belongs in the state legislature, but like it or not, religion has a great influence in public affairs in the USA, and Iowa is one of the more religious states. So why not have a Muslim saying prayers for a change?

Religion has absolutely no place in government. The politicians need to leave it at the door with thier coats and umbrellas when they wank into the office. I completely back anyones right to religion whether christian muslim or otherwise but no way does it belong in government. How do you criticize Obama for swearing an oath on the Koran and allow everyone else to do it on a Bible?

well, asking for victory over the disbelievers means those who are not muslim....... i know people on this site don't want hear it ................ but in the Koran, disbelievers are called infidels........and for a muslim priest to ask for that would seem to be kind of self-explanitory. . I don't have a problem with a muslim saying a prayer, but there is a difference between saying a prayer and making a political statement.
