  • Yes. You can write on the surface, but not on DVD lens part. That's where the drive reads the disk.

  • A few quick thoughts. DVDs are much more prone to data loss or corruption than regular CDs. One should never use sticker labels for DVDs and Fellowes specifically recommends not using their stickers on DVDs. Markers too can corrupt data over time but sharpies seem to be a safe option (although Sharpies have never done long term testing on this). I prefer to use a quality disc printer to label my discs. I use a devise called the Dymo DiscPainter. It is new but I have received great results fast and easily without any malfunctions or problems. Sharpies are great for simple labeling needs but if you want professional results or have to give the disc to another person you should use a higher quality labeling method.
