At least you have the possibility to do this. One could even say that they suggest that you do it. But if someone would't like to do it, why reject them?

Maybe they could give us some little flags we could choose to use, but not make it mandatory. Many of us have our country of origin on our profile for anybody to see.

how will you know what is true or false. its a non pay site. there should be no rules or restrictions about one's personal information. just because i say i am a male doesnt mean that is true. just like email . just because someone uses Bill@gmail.com doesnt mean bill is that person's name.
